Did some more part polishing before Duck Dynasty tonight, the one of the left is before, sort of. I soaked them for about a half hour to loosen up the crud.
After the show I decided to see what was goin' on in here, my limited knowledge and manual tells me everything seems to be in order, I'm wondering how much this bike was ever really ridden
This goober sucks. I don't know why that seemed like the best idea.

I think I am going to try and save/salvage the original sissy bar, it needs the fender bracket welded back on, and some shaping, but I think it'll be pretty cool

Some neat BSA choppers from the INTERNET. Fuck

Chrononaut

Just cruisin' on my BSA with my son...in the future/past.

I pulled the engine this afternoon, which was easier than I remember, I must be tougher this time...
I don't own an engine stand or a welder so I just threw it up on this table.
They didn't pull the engine when they painted it with housepaint, and there's a couple drips of white paint inside where you don't really see
Looks good to me, but I don't know all that much, I quit for the night so I can do some reading and make sure I do things right. I need new gaskets for sure. and those 4Aces dvds.

Welcome Emily

My good friend Emily is probably the coolest person I know, man. She's into bikes for all the right reasons, and wrenches on her own shit too. She packed up her 79 sportster into her 79 Dodge van a few months back and drove herself down to Phoenix, AZ from Olympia, WA to go to the Motorcycle Mechanics Institute.
Since being there she's decided she really has to turn that machine into a real chopper! Finally, I've been tellin' her this for a couple years I think. She has like 8 jobs man, including school and helping out at Haifley Bros, and working on her chopper.
Anyways, I'd like to formally welcome her to the 5&Dime team, and look forward to her posts.

Did I mention she doesn't give any fucks, ever?
Man, I've been thinking it might be pretty cool to just take the BSA back to how it was originally. A rough restoration I guess. I wish I had the original seat, I was looking at the photo and it looks like he took a king & queen, then cut the queen segment off so it was like a cushy drag seat? And he didn't sew it up either, just folded it under and bolted it on. Rad.
My plans change more than my underwear but for now I think this is what I might do.
That's what I'm talkin' about.

Chopper science

I got a mean head cold right now, I should be in bed watching movies, but I was reading Haifley Bros blog and their BSA build put me onto something about mine so I had to get up and make some science.

It's snowing again, a few inches since last night. Spring is supposed to look like this, not like the snowy Dave Mann's below. Maybe I should get a trike I bet I could rip around in the snow then.

Started cleaning and polishing parts, messing around in the electrical box. Was fairly surprised that it was so organized, I expected to find at least a dead mouse and fire damage.

I heard it's not cool in choppers to clean or polish parts. So that's what I'm doing all weekend. Being cool is for squares man
Hope everyone has a good weekend. Click the photo for more photos of babes eh

From my amigo's Rogue SpeedShop blog. This shit is too righteous to not share. Come back to Canada and get some work into that 69 I traded you Lovestory. I wanna see what you're gonna do.

Man, I just wanted to take that fuckin' gay front fender off. I didn't think I'd have to take apart the brake and take the wheel off. I don't think that wheels been off since 1974 man. Probably good that I did, considering the brake "pads" just disintegrated in my hands.

Just mocked up back in place, got my bates headlight back(yeah, I'm that cool)
Looks about 80 thousand times better sans that fender.

Man's best friend.

A digger and a dog man, what else do you need?
I'm not wearing shirts anymore either.

Blue jeans blues

I remember when I first got into choppers and realized the internet was a better source than what they were bringing into the Harley dealership I worked at, and way better than the Easyriders mags I was buying, I stumbled across Tim O'Keefe's photography and always dreamt, "Man if I was ever into having a bike in a magazine, I'd sure like O'Keefe to shoot it. Always the coolest bikes and the most righteous babes.

Too bad you don't get paid to be a dreamer eh?
